Blue Ridge Orchestra presents 2011 Spring Masterworks "All American Concert"

The Blue Ridge Orchestra's 2011 Spring Masterworks will be an all-American program featuring talented Asheville pianist, Hwa-Jin Kim, and works by Copland, Gershwin, and Bernstein.
The Bernstein pieces will include the lively Overture to Candide and a selection of works from West Side Story, and Copland’s beloved Variations on a Shaker Melody. Another familiar American master, George Gershwin, is featured on the second half of the program. After the percussive and dance-based Cuban Overture, the orchestra will be joined by Hwa-Jin Kim to perform Rhapsody in Blue, Gershwin’s jazz-influenced piano concerto that premiered when the composer was only 25 years old.
