Asheville Lyric Opera presents Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute, conducted by Asheville Symphony's Daniel Meyer.
The Magic Flute, which was premiered to great acclaim in 1791 tells of the story of the journey of two young men, Tamino and Papageno, as they search for love and wisdom. They encounter mystical characters who alternately assist them and hinder them as they voyage from darkness, represented by the Queen of the Night, into light, represented by priest-like Sarastro. In the end, after overcoming physical and psychological trials they are united with their true loves, Pamina and Papagena.
