From cop to comic. An unlikely leap, yes, and fodder for material? You bet. Since his years as “one of Houston’s finest,” Billy D. Washington has embarked on a multi-faceted showbiz career. He’s a top-notch stand-up comedian and an enormously talented musician, who often incorporates deft keyboard playing into his comedy act.
Billy D. Washington's original songs, parodies, poems, and comedy routine have landed him on the nationally syndicated The Bob and Tom Show, HBO’s Aspen Comedy Festival and Def Comedy Jam, The Montreal Comedy Festival, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, BET’s ComicView, The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and Last Comic Standing (2007-08). Catch the "low-key intensity, and dead on humor” (The Denver Post) of this dynamic performer for a very fun night out. Recommended for mature audiences.

"Within the context of what I do I best identify with the group of people who understand what it means to act outside of stereotypical behavior while maintaining their personal identity. I am an African American comedian who uses race as a backdrop but not as a crutch. My range of performances have been vast, from a three year tour as Aretha Franklin's opening act, to performing in front of 52,000 Lynyrd Skynyrd fans at the Houston Astrodome. On the piano I am somewhat of a tease. I play fragmented melodies that accentuate my bits and poetry, mixed with verses of original songs and parodies. Along with the piano my police experience is the thing that makes me most recognizable among my fans, and hopefully I can share those experiences with not only civilians but Asheville's finest!"Special Attraction Series Sponsors
