The Asheville Puppetry Alliance presents Hobey Ford's Golden Rod Puppets: Animalia

Due to complications with Visa's, Los Titiriteros de Binéfar performing el hombre cigüeña (The Stork Man) has been CANCELED. Instead, you will be treated to a special performance by Hobey Ford's Golden Rod Puppets in Animalia.
“Animalia” is a puppetry ballet of animal creatures called the “Foamies.” The “Foamies” are incredibly realistic animal puppets created by Hobey Ford. This beautiful production explores the world of animals through movement, music, and visually stunning puppetry. Ford breaks out of the traditional puppet theater booth turning the whole theater into his performance stage. The pieces include a magnified look at butterfly and frog metamorphosis, the world of birds, his classic undersea ballet of whales, frolicking dolphins and otters and a menagerie of other animal creatures. Ford's artistry and technical wizardry are a MUST SEE!
Winner of puppetry's highest honor, the UNIMA Citation of Excellence, and recipient of three Jim Henson Foundation grants, Hobey Ford is known for excellence in puppetry performance and craft. His intricate shadow puppetry work and creation of the original rod puppets, the "Foamies", have earned him a place in the Kennedy Center's Partnership in Education Program.
