Multi-faceted artist Faith Ringgold presents images of her work as a painter, textile artist, children’s book author and civil rights art activist exploring the African-American experience for more than 50 years.  Part of the Asheville Art Museum’s smArt speak: Distinguished Artist Series, Ringgold’s story quilts bridge craft and fine art to speak to the African-American experience both personally and universally. Faith Ringgold has received numerous prestigious awards for her work.  Her art is showcased in exhibitions throughout the world and housed in many permanent museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art.
