Mischievous and poignant, the songs and narratives paint a cinematic account of the wheeling and dealing of orphanage life while demonstrating how friendship and music can save a person. With frankness, tenderness, and humor, Ellis lays open his experience and the lives of those in a similar plight as testimony that we endure, even thrive, not despite obstacles and loss but because of them.
